Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced VFX Pipeline Supervisor to lead and oversee the development, deployment, and maintenance of our production pipeline. The ideal candidate will be responsible for guiding the Pipeline TD team and ensuring that tools, workflows, and infrastructure are efficient, scalable, and aligned with the creative and technical needs of production. This role sits at the intersection of VFX workflows, pipeline development, and cloud-based infrastructure, with a strong focus on Linux and AWS environments.
Responsibilities:
Supervise the design, development, and implementation of the VFX production pipeline, ensuring it meets the studio’s quality, performance, and scalability standards. Lead and coordinate the Pipeline TD team, providing technical direction, task prioritization, and mentorship. Work closely with VFX supervisors, artists, production, and other technical departments to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve workflow challenges. Continuously evaluate and improve the pipeline by integrating new tools, technologies, and best practices to optimize production efficiency. Develop, maintain, and document pipeline tools, workflows, and technical processes to ensure usability and long-term maintainability. Ensure proper integration and compatibility of DCC applications such as Maya, Houdini, Nuke, and Python-based tools within the pipeline. Provide advanced technical support and problem-solving for complex production and pipeline issues, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing work. Collaborate with IT and systems teams to support Linux-based servers, cloud infrastructure, and production services hosted on AWS. Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in VFX and pipeline development, proposing improvements that drive innovation and efficiency.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Pipeline Supervisor or in a senior technical pipeline role within the VFX, animation, or post-production industry. Strong understanding of VFX workflows and DCC applications such as Maya, Houdini, and Nuke. Extensive experience in scripting and tool development, particularly using Python. Solid knowledge of Linux-based environments in a production context. Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure, preferably AWS. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate, mentor, and manage technical teams effectively. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and technical levels. Experience supporting pipelines in high-performance, deadline-driven production environments.
Nice to Have:
Experience building or maintaining pipelines in mid to large-scale VFX studios. Familiarity with automation, CI/CD workflows, and deployment strategies for pipeline tools. Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Experience integrating third-party production management tools and asset management systems.
