Job Description:
We are looking for a highly motivated IT Technician to join our team and support the administration and operation of our cloud-based VFX studio infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and supporting IT systems across AWS and on-site environments, with a strong focus on Linux-based servers, networking, storage, and user support. This role is essential to ensure the stability, security, and performance of our production infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Administer and maintain IT infrastructure with a primary focus on Linux-based servers used for storage, render farm, pipeline services, and license servers. Support cloud infrastructure hosted on AWS, including basic management of instances, storage, networking, and access permissions. Provide first- and second-level technical support to internal users, including workstation support for Linux, Windows, and macOS environments. Install, configure, and maintain user workstations, peripherals, and production software in coordination with the pipeline and production teams. Monitor system performance, storage usage, and network connectivity to ensure production continuity. Manage backup systems and basic disaster recovery procedures. Assist in implementing and maintaining IT security policies, user access control, and data protection measures. Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for hardware, cloud services, and specialized technical support. Document system configurations, procedures, and incidents, maintaining clear and up-to-date technical documentation. Collaborate with Pipeline TDs and supervisors to support production workflows and resolve infrastructure-related issues.
Requirements:
Previous experience in an IT support or system administration role. Solid knowledge of Linux system administration in a production environment. Basic experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS. Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls. Experience supporting mixed OS environments (Linux, Windows, macOS). Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work effectively under production pressure. Good communication skills and the ability to support users with different technical backgrounds.
Nice to Have:
Experience working in a VFX, animation, or post-production studio environment. Familiarity with render farms, shared storage systems, and license servers. Experience with virtualization or containerized environments. Basic scripting knowledge (Bash, Python) is a plus. Relevant IT certifications are an advantage.
